When Scotland gains independence we really should consider legalizing cannabis, removing the layer of criminality and inject all the profits into our healthcare, education and our services. It will become a viable source of millions to the economy.

Jeez, my building would be absolutely honking of it night and day.
Millions? That’s an understatement.
Scotland clears £1 billion every year in tax revenue from drink. That isn’t total sold, that’s how much the taxman gets from the sales.
Weed, is much more relatively expensive, we’d be clearing half a billion in the first year from tax alone. I would imagine rising to past a billion annually within a decade.
Now imagine if we started taxing cocaine, of which we’re world leading consumers, and is again, 2 factors more expensive than weed. There’s billions sitting in tax revenue from illicit substances, and that’s just for Scotland.
while you wait …. It’s legal if you are a medical patient like myself ..
If you’ve tried more than 2 medications and they didn’t work for you for a wide variety of medical issues then you may also qualify ..
I’ve been with curaleafclincs for 3 years now
Best thing I’ve done in a long time 🫶🏼
I don’t think it’d be a golden bullet solution but yeah it seems weird to me that alcohol is taxed and legal but weed isn’t. It’s not like there’s any real enforcement of recreational use going on so you might as well just give up the pretense of it being illegal.
So never, as Scotland isn’t getting independence. I would say cannabis is going to be legalised long before that anyway.
PMSL When
Forget independence, it’s not happening.
For now, go the legal medical route. There’s so many illnesses that qualify most people will be able to get it.
Cost is comparable to the black market too. There’s no excuse.
It’s a great idea in theory Have high quality government grow houses They could even get people off of Universal Credit by employing them in such grow houses Pump the profit back into local councils Hopefully one day it can happen!
It’s an attack of the Forename_Guff posts!
I don’t think people understand that independence means we’ll still be doing what we’re told by Westminster. If we want to have an open border and trade with them freely – it would be economic suicide to do otherwise – then we need to make sure our laws don’t diverge much from theirs.
We should make schools out of hemp n stuff too
More than anything a ridiculous amount is spent processing ‘criminals’ charged with cannabis related crimes.
From police, to lawyers, judges, court clerks, court security, social workers, community service workers, prison staff, the lost goes on and on. It is LUDICROUS how much money is wasted in the justice system.
When… Hahaha your high fella?
Think of the money that could be saved when we no longer have a ‘war on drugs’, that would be a few quid a year.
As someone with chronic pain and a disabling condition I fully believe weed should be legalised in Scotland, it has helped me to have some quality of life, it gives me pain relief and helps me sleep, it stops me from being nauseous and vomiting most days, it also stops me from having to take harmful and addictive painkillers multiple times a day. As o.p said it could help generate an insane amount of money for our country as well in tax and such. Also unlike alcohol it doesn’t lead people to being anti social either if anything it brings people together.
Surprised Labour haven’t announced this already. Free tax income.
I think it’s a good idea but the only thing that stinks worse than cigarette smoke is weed. I can stand walking past places and people that stink of it
And it’s not rocket science, how millions of the general public know better than the suits in government. Nice post dude!!
As a Canadian who quit alcohol but uses edibles for recreation & chill after long hikes, I’m kinda annoyed that when traveling to other countries, I have to raw-dog it while my wife sips her beer or wine.
