I am writing to express my strong objection to your decision to host Katie Hopkins’ show, Batsh*t Bonkers Britain, on June 17th in Derry.
Katie Hopkins is a well-documented racist and far-right commentator who has repeatedly promoted hate speech, Islamophobia, and xenophobia. She is a vocal cheerleader for genocide, ethnic cleansing, and land theft, acts that constitute crimes against humanity and war crimes. By giving her a platform, you are legitimising her dangerous rhetoric and allowing her to spread division and hate within our community.
Derry is a city built on solidarity, resistance to oppression, and a commitment to human rights. The people of Derry and Strabane will not sit idly by while the Everglades Hotel hosts someone who openly mocks the suffering of others and fuels hate. If this event goes ahead, I, and many others, will support a boycott of Hastings Hotels and the Everglades.
I urge you to reconsider and cancel this event. If you will not think about the 20,000 children murdered in Gaza by Israel, armed by the US and enabled by the UK, then at least think about your reputation and the message this sends to the people of Derry.

If anyone is clued in, a proper country should allow positive freedom (govt assisted etc) and negative freedom (person makes their own choices for e.g. getting help with addictions) at the end of the day… She’s a fascist and called for the murders of people.
There’s no way anyone can defend that, she’s selected this country because it breeds extremism on both sides. That event (if anyone wants to live in democracy without a right wing take over) shouldn’t be allowed to happen, the last thing we need here is the influence of England’s right wing and American fascism poisoning this country even more.
