Trump’s New Energy Secretary Called Germany’s Energy Transition ‘Unreliable.’ But He Missed All the Nuance

Trump’s energy secretary is from the Oil & Gas Party. He understands nothing about BESS (battery energy storage systems), the costs of which have decreased dramatically in recent years, where utility use is exploding globally and where solar and wind energy is stored until needed, e.g. large scale use in California and Germany. This guy and his boss will cause the US to lose credibility and leadership in this strategic industry globally.
>“We don’t want to repeat that experiment in the United States,” he said. “The only way we’re really going to change our energy system is if we have energy **sources** that are affordable, that are reliable, that are secure, and that make people’s lives better. And we can do that.”
‘Energy’ is not only electricity but also natural gas for their chemical industries, and that’s what Germany does not have an affordable and reliable source for anymore.
Tl;dr: Trump’s new energy secretary may know all the right words, but the way he combines them into this story is rather silly.
Did Trump’s energy guy look at the change in China recently? IEA had a story with Bloomberg today stating that fossil fuel use in China is Plateauing and likely will start falling this decade. A country of 1 billion people can transition off oil sure as hell Germany can.
This energy secretary is a bought idiot.
