So I am from a 3rd world country and I will be moving to Luxembourg soon for my internship. I am currently studying in France so I have a valid french permit, and according to this site [https://guichet.public.lu/en/citoyens/immigration/moins-3-mois/ressortissant-tiers/entree-visa.html](https://guichet.public.lu/en/citoyens/immigration/moins-3-mois/ressortissant-tiers/entree-visa.html) I am allowed to stayed in Luxembourg for a max of 3 months without visa. But my agency handling my visa application told me that I can’t enter the country yet, not while my application is pending so I’m a bit confused? My initial plan was to move there a month before the start of my internship to find/settle in my new accommodation, but now I’m told that I can’t go there too early? Is there something I’m missing?

  1. Do you have a Schengen visa, or French national visa? I know that certain countries issue national visas, that can’t be used to move around. There are however no border checks, so you should have no issue crossing the border by land. At your own risk, of course!

  2. You can work without the Lux visa if you’re an intern, you can stay in France and work. No need to apply for Lux visa unless you want to live here. Just need to travel daily to Lux for work. Only works if you’re an intern if you have a CDI either shift to Luxembourg or just apply for cross border visa.

PS: Also a 3rd country national and also had a french student visa lived on french border city and worked from France. Please check with your HR, seems that they don’t have any idea about this.

  3. There is no issue entering Luxembourg if you have permit to stay in France (applies to all Schengen Zone), If you are good to enter France, you are good to enter any countries within Schengen Area. Restriction applies for paid activity though, you cannot get paid for any activity in Luxembourg unless you get a permit from Luxembourg Immigration.
