I’ve just discovered that in some countries, Valentine’s Day is best translated as friends day. So people give little gifts and cards to friends with no romantic intent. And I kind of like that. And if it also includes pets, even better. I’d love to get a nice card and a box of chocolates from my dog.

Every day is a celebration for my cats. I’m having supernoodles for dinner but their cat food is £32 a bag. They won’t even get me a card, I’m just a human slave

Never bought something silly for your dog? Mine would have no toys if I didn’t impulse buy anything that looks stupid
I adopted my cat on the 14th Feb, so I give him an extra couple of dreamies.
That being said, as much as I hate public displays of affection between the same or different species, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at someone who is chronically lonely finding solace with a pet. I think in extreme cases pets can be life savers and we all know this “holiday” probably causes more harm than good.
I got my cat a lil bow tie for valentine’s day 🥺 he’s such a sweet boy I love treating him
(It’s also my birthday on the 16th so now he can dress for the occasion)
Reassuring that many of you are giving this the short shrift it deserves. Wild that so many others are normalising bestiality in this country.

Me. My cat cured a bout of depression with her cheeky sweet personality. She has a fancy meal bought for tomorrow and I have some pink roses. I’m done feeling miserable on Vals day.

I’ve bought all my cats new toys to their own personal likes. I have also bought them a fancy food that is 10x the cost per meal per cat.
I will also give them some nip & extra treats. We are dinks & love our cats.
I do also spoil my nieces & nephews for Christmas & their birthdays & I buy my siblings pets gifts or bring treats when I see them.
I also buy my friend’s gifts & sometimes if something reminds me of somebody I will buy it for them.
Even if i don’t know them too well, its worked 100% of the times I’ve done it. Even if it’s a small gift like a fancy coffee, or a chocolate bar they mentioned.
I think I just have a gifting problem. Its guilt free spending… maybe I have a spending problem, but I am an introvert who saves money and loves making people happy with gifts.
Getting gifts for a date’s pet usually goes down very well with the owner!
Kids. When I was little we got my cat a Christmas present. It was a fancy collar so she hated it. She did like the cardboard boxes my toys came in though so at least she didn’t end up with nothing.
I buy one for my motorcycle 😂
One of my suppliers sent me a Valentine’s Day present. It was smarties, in their company colours.
I smashed them with my morning coffee, and greatly enjoyed them.
It was still really weird.

Half of my Reddit and Instagram feeds at the moment are taken up by people doing valentines photoshoots with their pets. Two rats with their tails together in a heart shape, hamster safe cakes, that sort of thing. I love it.

My cat is my world, my best friend and gets spoilt, nothing wrong with it at all!
Whos buying overpriced valentines gifts at all? Just do something special another day and not get scammed as much

I tried to find the cat a cute Valentine’s toy but didn’t find anything suitable. She has Halloween toys, Christmas ones, any occasion I can excuse buying her shit, she’s getting it.
Our dog will live, if we’re lucky, 14 years. 14 short years on this mortal coil. At best.
For the amount of joy and love he brings us, every single day, we’re absolutely going to celebrate each and every silly hallmark holiday with appropriate levels of “good boi”s and toys and snacks and pets. Up to, and including, valentines day.
Our house on his birthday is wall to wall joy for him. It’s delightful.
As someone who works for the company, a lot of people. And Christmas is manic too.
Even better- I’m making a play gym for my budgies tomorrow. They are my valentines
Sort of me, because my I got my dog on Valentines day and we always buy him toys and treats for his gotcha day
