As Ukraine prepares to mark the third anniversary of war with Russia, the ongoing conflict continues to have a huge impact on the people living there.

The war started on February 24, 2022 when Russia invaded the country.

The conflict has caused a lot of destruction to towns and cities, with many buildings in Ukraine damaged, and millions of people forced to leave their homes.

Now world leaders are looking for a path to end the conflict, but what a peace agreement might mean for Ukraine, remains uncertain.

James Waterhouse, the BBC’s Ukraine Correspondent, sent Newsround this special report from the country’s capital – Kyiv.
