  1. Snowfall has been sparse across Nebraska this winter, but a cattleman said the lack of snow has made for “beautiful cattle feeding” conditions.

Craig Uden, a fourth generation cattleman and part-owner of Darr Feedlot in Central Nebraska, said there have only been about six inches of snow all winter long. Despite the lack of snow, Uden said the weather has been “wonderful for cattle feeding conditions.”

A lot of Uden’s cattle have been able to stay in the corn fields as a result of “so many 50 to 60℉ days. It’s actually been a tremendously easy year to winter cows,” Uden said.

La Niña similar to 2022 causing concern
As the winter continues with a La Niña weather pattern, Uden said “we don’t know if it’s going to rain a lot” come the spring and summer months.

  2. Idk if “a lot of rain” is really great for flat farmland..

  3. Keep on voting for the GOP if you want more frequent events like this!

  4. One of the great things about Nebraska compared to so many of the more urbanized states is there’s still a lot more of the actual environment, or something resembling it at least, to appreciate. On the other hand if you go to many blue or more urban states that you hear are so pro-environment you might find yourself soon asking where the environment itself actually is lol

Even national park land (joshua tree) is being bought up for development in CA now. Sad.

  5. Don’t worry, Nebraska’s unicameral is hard at work enacting child genital inspections for sporting events.

  6. As someone who grew up in Nebraska, this is a pretty common yearly concern and the weather is some of the most extreme weather I’ve ever encountered. It’s 95% humidity during the summers, always floods during July and August, -30F during the winters, and everything is dead until April. But Autumn is really nice for like 1.5 months so there is that!

  7. Don’t worry Trump will divert a few rivers, open a few dams and you will have all the water you will need!
