There aren’t a lot of reasons to be proud of our country these days, but the way we’ve supported Ukraine is one of them.
What will Trump and Putin say about this?
Seriously, the US will block this if they stay as a member. Can Europe kick the US out if it works against NATO’s interests?
Ah yes, let’s promise zelensky the one thing putin won’t ever tolerate. I’m sure that will end well.
Trump will sadly veto this. He has no time for Ukraine and is only concerned with Putin, to the point Zelenskyy is seeing Vance and not Trump. It shows Trump’s priority here.
hard to tell who is the bigger idiot: starmer for saying it or zelensky for believing it.
I don’t think there’s any chance of them joining Nato anytime soon. Russia just won’t accept it as part of the deal. Probably the main reason they invaded both times. The UK won’t play a bigger part in these negotiations than the EU, what Starmer says to Zelensky doesn’t mean much in my opinion.
Unless Ukraine wants this war to go on for many years to come, they’re gonna have to call it quits to the idea of NATO.
US and Germany thinks differently not to mention other countries like Slovakia.
Why are we so obsessed with military escalation?
I think supporting Ukraine’s European integration and prospects of EU membership achieve much of the same goals as NATO membership, only without (or a lowered) threat of war with Russia.
Wow the UK gov really do want a nuclear war with Russia.
Not a fan of Starmer at all – but very impressed he’s broken with Trump and the US here in supporting NATO membership. Credit where credit is due.
Setting aside whether it’s a good idea, the UK could just agree it’s own Nato style treaty with Ukraine.
‘Oh, we’d love to help but, gosh darn it, we can’t without Nato. For some reason’
Alternatively, can’t the British army be deployed to a field in Ukraine – coincidentally on a key route Russia would need to take – and essentially block Russia? Take no aggressive action at all but the second Russia tries to move you out of the way, it’s Article 5 time.
Let’s not forget Russia did exactly this during the Balkans War. They can complain all they want but a foreign army playing chess in a field would be a major barrier for Russia they can’t just shoot at.
So many of you seem to want to escalate this war, and yet none of you would actually fight in it.
Am I missing something?
If Ukraine joins Nato, and Russia attack again, it’s WW3.
Starmer is just stringing Zelensky on in my opinion.
