DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Green Drinks hosts events where people gather to discuss environmental issues. Worldwide, it has over 700 chapters.
The Quad Cities has had its chapter since 2019 and they meet monthly to discuss pressing environmental issues affecting the area.
They host events throughout the year to help expand understanding of climate change.
“If you tell them that there’s climate change, they say no, it’s not happening, it’s a hoax. But when you talk about clean water and clean air, they understand,” said Susan Leuthauser, a facilitator of PACG Environmental Forum.
Experts lead conversations and include topics like renewable energy, water pollution, and regenerative farming.
They also bring all the conservation groups together in one place to present their work and partner with local organizations like Nahant Marsh to have face-to-face discussions about solutions.
“It’s always been my thought that we shouldn’t be working against each other, and it’s great that PACG is so willing to work with so many different groups to elevate the message and the causes,” said Brian Ritter, Executive Director of Nahant Marsh.
They are also bringing generations together by working with Augustana students.
“Each group told each other, ”We need to get together and do this; we need to get together and do that.” The energy present at that event was very inspiring,” said Leuthauser.
Leuthauser concluded that their purpose is to enhance each other’s work and share ideas to create a better environment.
