  1. That is his lowest approval rating ever, and Lula is on his 3rd non-consecutive term. To put things in perspective, Bolsonaro (who I think ran a terrible administration, specially during COVID) never scored this low.

**EDIT:** You will read some comments that Lula’s low approval rating is because he isn’t “Left-Wing enough”. I don’t think that is accurate. Lula won the last election by a 1.8% margin (50.9% vs. 49.1%) and only accomplished this marginal victory by forming a coalition with main Center parties and politicians, including his vice-president and many of his ministers. Without that coalition, he would have lost badly.

So the idea that he is facing a 24% approval rate because “he is not Left-Wing enough” defies logic. If anything, his low approval rate is because most the Center that played a critical role in getting him get elected has abandoned him.

Leftists/communists/democrats get blown the fuck out!

    Leftism………………

    …… Not even once.

  3. And I expect that, as always, their strategy for 2026 will be another round of “but the other candidate is *so* much worse! Vote for me!”. As true as that statement may be (fucking hell, polls are even considering a shitty country singer for president), I don’t think it’ll work this time.

His party has always been very reliant on smearing campaigns and outright lies against their opponents, so they were very luck that in a time where the far right got way better at doing that, Bolsonaro was an easy target, being the kind of guy who went on record to say he would eat a native (as in cannibalism, yes) and that he followed prostitute children into brothels because there was a good mood between them. However, I can’t see it working again next year.

  4. That kind of happens when you’re elected promising a left wing platform and yet you govern with right wing policies

Maybe he should grow a pair and do something or just resign already. His center-right VP might even be less economically austere and coward than he is

  5. Another week, another tax.

The truth is, Lula is a weak president. He had to buy a lot of support to get elected. Bought the supreme court to be eligible, bought his main historical opposition party to run with him, bought TV companies, bought the electoral court so they’d cut Bolsonaro’s electoral funds… and even then he was behind on all polls, so he had to buy off the supreme court again so they’d change electoral rules mid-election against the constitution.

So now he has to pay off all those promises.

One of the first things Lula did was give away ministries, departments, etc.

But then he found out the legislative isn’t on his side, so he had to create new ministry in order to hand them out to pass his first round of new taxes.

After that he was just… stuck. Lula never had the people’s support. He never had congress support. And he quickly ran out of positions to buy off all support he needs.

So he needs money. Tons of money to constantly buy off support. He spent 5 billion in one day back in May, 7 billion in December, etc. Its always 5-10 billion every time he wants to put something to a vote. Which means he needs money, which means he needs to pass new taxes, which means he needs to buy support to pass those taxes…

Needless to say, a constant stream of new taxes is always unpopular. Specially if there’s no plan behind, no vision. Lula has no more promises to make, nothing to show for the people other than a record tax revenue.

To top it all off, if there’s an impeachment in the first 2 years a new election is called. After two years, the vice president stays for the rest of the term. Meaning the VP now can start thinking about being rid of the V in VP.

  6. I don’t even have any idea of what his plans are in this new term. The right wing will forever hate him because he’s a “left” winger and a communist, no matter what he does.

And right now he’s basically governing like a right winger, basically fucking his base over.

So you got the right calling him communist, and his lefty base calling him a right winger, which frankly at this point he is. So who the fuck is he governing for?

There are certain things that aren’t directly his ideas, but he could have vetoed then. What is he even scared of anyway? He’ll never get re-elected in a trillion years. The politicians he is pleasing right now would backstab him at the first chance they get.

He fucked his base over and has been slowly killing any goodwill younger voters ever had for him, which wasn’t even much anyway. So what the fuck even is this? We truly live in puzzling times. It’s like that line: “Nobody knows what it means but it’s provocative”
