American troops in Europe are not ‘forever,’ US defense chief warns

1. Kick them out. We don’t need the Americans to defend 500 million Europeans from 150 million Russians. It’s absurd.

   Integrate Europe and smash Moscow.

2. Feel free to pack your bags, and lose logistical capability.

   I like it how they frame that its them doing us a favor when in reality its the opposite.

3. Fuck it. They are getting way too arrogant. Start the talks on European states integrating again, boost the military spending and fuck the states. Let em sit on their continent and make trades with Russia who’s buying power is laughable at best.

5. If we had a European Army we wouldn’t need to play these games and worry about being blackmailed. In this case allowing US troops to use our soil would become leverage instead of dependence.

    That sounds like great news for EU.

11. A lot of dreading articles are dominating the news already, but where people see dread I see opportunity. It’s time Europe start moving FAST. The EU budget needs to be increased drastically. I read that it was average 1€ per EU citizen, which is ridiculously low. We can easily increase the budget tenfold. Then start spending and developing hard. More military production and R&D (defence spending), better transport infrastructure, more spending for food and agricultural development, more spending for (higher) education development, equal footing within the EU on better and equal standards of living.

    It’s time Europe will de-americanize. First Trump term we thought it was a fluke, now we know it’s a trend.

13. Why is the US suddenly acting like they never wanted their troops stuffed in every nook and cranny across the globe? Your little bases aren’t the only deterrent on the continent. Fuck off if you don’t want to be here.

14. I’m fairly confident that all those US bases throughout Europe are for Americas benefit. In a great many cases, some have wanted them gone for years.

15. I guess airbases for US military in Europe are not forever either.

    This narrative that Europe is taking the piss out of the US and freeloading has to be challenged. The US has bought power & influence through using its military as a bargaining chip – their country has remained fat & prosperous for their part in the bargain. Now they want all the leverage or that deal without paying the price?

    Fuck them, don’t buy their weapons, don’t allow them bases. Europe needs its own supply chain that is independent of those profiteering clowns.

19. De Gaulle was a visionary, telling Americans to fuck off in the 1960s and developing our own defense industry. If we did it, other European countries can do it too, especially Germany with their massive industry.

23. He is probably not aware that many of the installations, bases and other is there on the request of the US, and not because the country requested it. The problem with being dense is that you lack the knowledge, patience and history to not be a giant tool.

24. The only way the US is able to power project is via these massive bases abroad. Good luck with your logistics when you don’t have any bases nearby.
