  3. Yeah well it’s not really a mugshot any more is it. The whole idea is that it’s the person’s face, which is why they’re never issued with the back of the person’s head, or them standing in another room. I really don’t understand why they’d listen and comply to something so obvious.

  4. The UK will pay a dear price for the fundamental error of including ‘religion and beliefs’ in the Equality Act (beyond the absolute minimum of you can’t refuse someone a job because of their faith).

    If not the harm of religious extremists then the harm from politicians seizing on stuff like this happening or even worse both.

  8. Idiotic stuff obviously, but to be fair the judge did clarify that the press were free to use either mugshot.

  11. Left her marriage because it became violent. Then saved up money to move to Afghanistan and join IS. A country and organisation renowned for how well they treat their women.

    Saved £1200 for 5 flights to Afghanistan including presumed smuggling across specific borders if necessary.

  13. I think the police are taking the piss. They can do that. She’s complained, they’ve done *exactly* what she wanted, and made her – and anyone else calling for this – look stupid. Law enforcement clearly cannot work this way and the police have proved the point.

    I fear we have got to the point of toleration going too far and allowing intolerant people to have their way.

  18. So can I do that if I ever get a mugshot taken so I won’t be in the same situation of experiencing “considerable distress” because of the photograph showing my full face. Because i committed a crime and fell better if my mugshot did not show my face and I was not recognised because that would
    be so much better than a traditional mugshot
