I’m planning a trip to Bergen in lane June to celebrate my boyfriend’s 30th! We both love nature and always wanted to visit Norway. He is a lot more experienced hiking than me, I am fit but I have mostly hiked in Crete up to 10k. I don’t think I can hack something like Trolltunga!!

I am very overwhelmed by all the options and are looking to do a round trip from Bergen with 1-2 days night stay somewhere that allows for a scenic hike preferably around fjords and would like to see some waterfalls.
We can rent a car if really needed.

My thoughts for an itineraries are:

Day 1:Arrive in Bergen in the morning, spend the day there

Day 2: Go to Flam via ferry (first part of NiN) – hoping to go to Stegastein (is it even possible in one day?). Go someplace to stay overnight. Looking at Ulvik/Kinsarvik/Eidfjord – is this a crazy idea using public transport?

Day 3: looking for a moderate hike around Hardangerfjord with scenic views – any recommendations?

Day 4: Return to Bergen either from Myrdal by train or drive (if staying somewhere like Ulvik) stopping at Steindalfossen

Day 5: Leave from Bergen

Other options

Day 2: Day trip to somewhere like Rosendal to stay the night

Day 3: Hike and return to Bergen

Day 4: Do NiN from Bergen – Bergen to Flam

Some of my questions:
* Are my itineraries doable?
* I would love to stay at hotel Ullensvang but it looks even further, would anyone recommend driving there from Bergen and are there any decent hiking trails around there?
* Is any of Kinsarvik/Ulvik/Eidfjord doable from Myrdal?
* Would you advise to rent a car?

This is one of the trails I was looking at

Apologies for my chaotic post with millions of questions I’m suffering with decision paralysis and want to plan something amazing 🥺 Any help appreciated!!

  1. Entur.no is the place for checking public transportation in norway. Stegastein is 1,5 hour walk
