Yle dropped a nice documentary regarding immigrants’ job searching experience in Finland. Judging from the documentary, some of these people actually has Finnish passport and the language skills to work.
The title is probably not written in this manner intentionally, but it comes off as very surprised due to the word actually
Interesting. But it is not a new thing for foreigners having this problem. I don´t think the governments are entitled to as much of the blame as they get. It´s everyday Finns who don´t want to hire us.
extremely informative despite the lack of english subtitles lol, thank you
The problem is many people in the society are unwilling to engage with foreigners, even in forming friendships or relationships. I got a job in a Finnish company, I was all alone. People went to lunch without even inviting me despite me showing interest in them, or they refused to answer my greetings. After sometime I started to alienate myself from the Finnish society and hung out with foreigners. I never understood that “closed-off behavior”. I mean I understand people can be reserved but why only reserved around me? Even when I speak the language?
The same people then go to internet and complain “mamus don’t integrate”, but they don’t see the hypocrisy . Why would someone integrate to a society where they treat foreigners with suspicion? Even when they are trying hard to learn the language and be a part of the society, the society simply refuses to accept them.
