  1. Fucking embarrassing. How are these (out-sourced) bureaucrats so pig headed to allow something like this. Probably concerned this four year old my be trying to gain access when he’s really a Russian spy or ISIS terrorist /s

  2. The article has a different headline and says nothing about being refused, it looks like everything is progressing even if it’s a bit cumbersome.

    > She said his visa application had been thwarted because his passport had recently expired.
    > However, the Home Office said children do not need passports to apply.

    > The Home Office said a birth certificate was also an accepted form of identification if a child did not have a passport and if they have neither they can go to a visa application centre to process their bid.

  3. The actual title of the article is “Family tells of struggle bringing Ukrainian boy, 4, to UK”

Why is there an editorialised version instead?

  4. The whole process seems slow and cumbersome, as if it designed to put people off coming here, meaning they head to other European countries who do not require refugees to jump through bureaucratic hoops. It means the Tories can claim we are taking in refugees but not too many, allowing the Tories to keep the Hostile Environment going.

  5. so he wasn’t refused a visa, but the process is taking a while. so the headline is clickbait. of course child asylume seekers should be let in, but you can’t let people move children between countries without id to prove they’re their kid, or some will end up trafficked. surely that’s obvious?
