After the last 2 years he’s had could you blame him and 20 years doing the same thing is a very long time.
I imagine some people will celebrate this news
Fair play Tony.
Stepping down as public enemy number one 😞
I thought he was running the country?
I have a friend who I thought was smart and had common sense but I met him over Christmas and he went on a near hour long diatribe on Tony.
Insane proper unhinged shite about the need to protest outside his house. Sincerely of the belief that the measures were put in place in some power trip.
Roaring at us even when we were just directing the conversation away from his ramblings. Mid afternoon, not a drink nor drug taken.
Since then he’s really gone down the rabbit hole. It’s scary.
Sound lad, Tony
I wish him all the best in his new role
Fair play to him.
The job he had to do during the early part of the pandemic coupled with his wives illness and death must take a lot out of person.
I’m sure his experience and that of all those involved at the top table at that time will give some good teachable lessons.
Really looking forward to the thousands of applications for the role from those that carried out their own research online over the last few years.
if he locked the trinners students down and quarantined them there, he’d be a hero /s
Surely Glynn’s the favourite to take over given he did the job already
“He locked down the country, he took away our liberties.
Still… there goes the best darn Chief Medical Officer this country has ever had!”
Note: this is a Simpson’s reference of course!
And this sub will forget anything it said about him!
I might try apply
Does he deserve the crap he gets over dictator ect? No he does not but I don’t get the fascination with putting him on a pedestal.
The absolute damage done to Irish families while he was at the helm due to cervical check is crazy. His HSE is essentially working against families on a daily basis we just saw how bad it could be when dying women were being dragged through court cases.
I was going to apply for that janitor role in Trinity.
No point now, he’s in the know
Thank you Tony.
Didn’t he have a very dubious track record prior to covid?
Finally got a colleague to shut up* complaining about covid by telling him that now’s the time for him to apply for CMO!
(*just for long enough to walk away from him, he was back at it later!)

Wouldn’t blame him after the past two years.
He’s been there a long time, wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed on longer than intended with the pandemic.
