  1. Greetings! I do not know how old this is, but my mother found this picture of her grandfather’s passport. She asked me to get help finding his name and the town he is from. And any other info, birthdate etc that can be found.

I can use google translate for the printed text, but the written script wouldn’t be possible that way. Are there any resources that any of you might have that could help with this? Or can anyone here assist?

    Thank you in advance!

  2. Under the photo, there is signature (parašas) and it says ‘nemoka’ ([he] can’t [write]) I presume

  3. The quality of this is amazing.. So your great grandfather was a litvak (lithuanian jewish) tailor from Kaunas. I guess he managed to escape before nazis came.

Oh and I see someone translated name, birth date , nationality and his trade, but there are also his special features:

    Height: 174 cm ( 5’7″)

    Hair: Black

    Face: Round.

You can also see his signature on bottom left side of this document, top right number is for pasport number; and top left- queue number (serial number)

The stamp says: *Kauno miesto milicijos valdyba* that would translate to ” The board of militia of Kaunas city”

Edit: Actualy it seems that the number I referred as serial number, more likely to be something like ID number. As it’s repeated on the top part of photo- 10777

  4. Some letters are hard to understand but I think that his name was Jankelas Bardovskis. It is harder to decipher what letter is in the name between letters “N” and “E” but if you look at the name and surname “K” it is written the same way. Place of birth – Kaunas. Profession – tailor. Nationality – Jew.
