Why people such pessimist? Look at this from the other side. The more USA/West betray Ukraine – the more Ukraine and everyone else will start to evade any such possibilities and use most effective and REAL rules, Russian “WMD-Might make Right/True” and USA “WMD countries cannot lose.”
Just look as it was with 19th centuries monarchies and empires that also constantly deceived colonies. And to what did this lead to? To liberation.

Sounds like Spike trying to explain away Trump’s diarrhea-delivered campaign promises to “end the war in 24 hours”. Whoever listens to ANYTHING Trump says is using their own brain for a diarrhea-receiving toilet bowl, one willing to soak up and revel in whatever loudly flatuous and watery gushes come spewing forth from Trump’s mouth. Biden was the wrong President to handle the Ukraine war.
The Afghanistan pull out fiasco I feel really made him overly scared and cautious.
He had 3 years to deal a death blow to Russia but feared either Medvedev’s post-vodka binger threats, or the prospect of an unstable Russia if it lost too badly.
What an absolutely wasted opportunity.
The west (US and UK) have been advising Ukraine to negotiate for at least two years, but Ukraine wants to keep fighting. That’s their prerogative, but they have to realize that aid isn’t endless.
The West, and especially the US, should have done more at every stage from the start of the war in 2014, to the present.
But I cannot call it betrayal. Betrayal would have been to give no help, or so little help, that the country was overrun.
If you want to see betrayal, you only have to look at what Trump has said and done since taking office. Look at Vance and Hegseth, and what they are doing. That is what betrayal looks like.
Zelenski and Ukraine will make a mortal mistake if the place any trust in trump.
