EU unveils ‘Competitiveness Compass’ to cut red tape and spur investment • FRANCE 24 English

The European Commission has unveiled its long-awaited roadmap to revamp the sluggish economy. The “Competitiveness Compass” builds on recommendations from last year’s report by former ECB president Mario Draghi. Plus, the UK government gives its backing to building a third runway at London’s Heathrow Airport.

  1. Red tape that you idiots put in place just like net zero is increasing energy prices and increasing immigration you caused all reason business will not comeback to Europe. Need a full clean out of top European politicians and I mean top politicians

  2. Too little, too late. If you watch the news about EU continuously, you'll see they have been burning billions of euros on anything, but innovations. An example: energy price, and "the elephant in the room" right now…

  3. EU dependency: Energy dependency on Russia, high-tech and military dependency on the USA and NATO, workforce dependency on developing countries, sales dependency on China. To make things worse, lack of innovation, terrible bureaucracy, low salaries, high housing prices. Wanna be independent? Give a try and good luck!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  5. A "competitive compass"? Wonderlie is never short on buzzwords. It was "solidarity" at the beginning of the Ukraine war, look how it goes ! If Wonderlie knows how a compass work, the EU would have no problem pulling itself out of the dump. So what is a "competitive Compass" ? I venture a guess…it has a magnetized needle in the middle. Around the perimeter, some settings such as "-10, -5, 0, to 5, 10, and Off the Chart". So where is the EU sits right now? I think "-3". So how do you bring he needle to "off the chart" ? It needs the Wonderlie solidarity.

  6. Yanis Varofakis is right. The EU (and the world except China) pays rent to US Technofeudal platforms. Until EU has its own Magnificent Seven as China does, the EU can never be truly competitive. The US is now trying to add AI closed models to the list of techfeudal platforms protect with a wide moat. The EU can try to escape of course suh as by occasional fines to techno giants, but this technofeudalism has locked in the EU already.
