  1. He’s 80 years old, jeez. Retire and go hang with your rich friends, sir.

  2. Awww isn’t he a cute little old man! Call his kids and tell them he is wandering around SNL again.

  3. The problem with this generation in a nutshell: they think they’re the only ones who can do the job. They have such massive inflated egos, And they literally have nothing else but their work lives

  4. Pack it up, Gramps. It has been the writers and the cast that has kept the ship afloat and not your oldass toxicity.

  5. What is it with these elite rich old people who never wanna retire bro 😭😭🤦‍♂️

  6. Boo. Just give the fucking reins to Fey or Thompson already old man

  7. Lorne is going to die on the SNL set and honestly I think he’s ok with that

  8. I bet you that Lorne hasn’t put together a clear line of succession and trained the next person. I hope I’m wrong. But that seems to be the way these types operate.

  9. Gotta turn it into a right wing fascist propaganda machine before he wraps up.

  10. This is what happens when your job is your entire identity.

  11. Comedy always needs a refresher every 20 years, even Eddie Murphy is not as funny as he once was. If Lorne leaves and NBC willing to take some risks, I predict SNL will be a lot funnier.

  12. Someone should tell him that most people feel like it’s done.

  13. Michaels at this point should have several subordinates that could do his entire job. I get it that SNL is truly his baby. That said, if he hasn’t bothered training a successor that is also on him

  14. It’s kinda sad the state of the world today where we have 70-80 something year olds still failing to relinquish power and pass it on already to younger generations.

  15. This thread is the embodiment of “you either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain.”

  16. I doubt he could function without the show. He’s definitely used to working all day every day.

  17. Please retire and let Tina Fey run things. The show was at its best when she was head writer.

  18. I honestly believe the only people he trusts to give the show over to don’t want it

  19. How much money do you need old man? You can’t take with to the after life.

  20. SNL is now the official marker that a joke is dead

  21. He should have already had Tina Fey and Colin Jost working in a shared producer role just to teach them the ropes but I’m afraid he’s refused to even make them his assistants at this point.

If he doesn’t already have those two in place; snl might be screwed.

  22. He has a lot unfunny episodes to continue producing

Its hard running a charity like SNL but I guess someone has to feed bad comedians

  23. This show has run its course a long time ago. Let it die.

  24. There are YouTube channels pumping out really good quality skits that are orders of magnitude funnier and better written than SNL. For the life of me I don’t get how it’s still going.

  25. “It makes me a crap ton of money, and I don’t have to do anything. “

  26. This right here is why this country is so fucked up.

  27. There must be more monstrous rich men he can platform, still.

  28. I’m surprised all you “liberals” aren’t protesting in the streets that Lorne Michaels is a dictator! Lol (That’s a joke, and jokes are a form of entertainment so please don’t ban me for It)
