Too little to late, because Scholz always delayed.
Definitely, if Obama had stepped up when the Little Green Men (Wagner Group) crossed into Ukraine and started raising havoc we wouldn’t be in this situation today.
MAGA frequently say that Putin didn’t do it during the Trump administration and that’s objectively true. He didn’t have to while he had a friend in the Oval Office. That being said, I think Putin thought that Biden would just let him do what he wants just like Obama. He was wrong and has paid a very heavy price for the failure of his 3 day special military operation.
I think we should keep our knee on Putin’s neck and make the end of this war painful for him. I guess we have to make some concessions to allow Putin to save face at home just to get a deal but I don’t think it should be just handing him what he’s stolen so far. Give him something but not everything.
Putin has been a bad actor opposed to US interest and is allied with the other rogue States Iran and North Korea. Giving him a win hurts America in the long term. Keeping him on his heels is the best strategy.
Actually a regime change for Russia would be preferred but in that fucked up political climate we might get someone worse…
Sorry, what?
Didn’t USA officials already outright stated that after 11 years of Russian International Law violation USA introduced only 3/10 sanctions? As it was shown thereafter because still see want to see Russia as ally against China.
Why question things which already completely obvious? Modern assimilated by NKVD-like Political Realism Realpolitik USA in 2014-2025 years helped Ukraine not because of some Christian or humanistic values, protection of International Law, and so on, but exclusively for own benefits (including reputational). No more, no less.
Just opportunistic business and sociopathic “by some strange reasons always failing brilliant long-term plans.”
That is absolutely true. Every country was afraid of escalating the conflict and antagonizing the Russians by doing more to help Ukraine. Anybody who has studied Russia knew that you never show any weakness to the Russians or they will exploit it. The West had to show strength, determination, and total support for Ukraine at the first hint of an invasion. If they would have, everything would be totally different now.
Obviously
Yes, and Healey and Lammy are doing too little now to make up for it.
Ya think?
The hesitancy of the Western powers will be listed alongside Neville Chamberlain’s “Peace in our time” in the list of “blunders of historical magnitude”.
Too little? Biden arranged for the safe removal of Zelensky from Ukraine. However, he refused and here we are. /s
