Sad face

  1. As a drummer that’s been influenced by Taylor for years (amongst many other fans) I’m devastated and also for his friends/ family and the band (Dave especially)

I have to wonder though did there touring schedule contribute, they were everywhere recently, Australia in early March, then Mexico, Chile, and Columbia last night. It did seem quite excessive for a band that’s already clocked up years of mileage.

Keep in mind also, that the Foo Fighters perform 2/3 hour concerts regularly with songs of 160bpm and upwards every night and literally do not stop playing until the house lights come up or there told to stop.

It’s been often said that drummers at there peak in a live environment are the equivalent to an athlete and Taylor was every bit as one.

On top of that, the band were also of the back of theatrical film release and were due to perform a worldwide televised performance at the Grammy’s whilst also headlining Lollapalooza Brazil in between.

It seemed like a mad hectic schedule for a band that’s possibly in the twilight of there career and potentially a breeding ground for stress and pressure.

It’s a terribly sad day for the music world all round and an absolutely tragic time for drummers.

Vinnie Paul, Tony Allen, Neil Peart, Joey Jordison , Ginger Baker and now Taylor Hawkins all gone in the space of a couple of years.
