I’m in the train from Helsinki airport to city centre and I see this logo on the screen.

  1. You need to have a pre-purchased ticket before entering the train, theres no ticket sale in the train anymore and you can be fined for not having a valid ticket for travelling!

  2. Tickets are not sold on that train. You need to buy a ticket from one of the machines on the platform, on the phone app, or have a travel card.

  3. Thank you all!
Got my ticket before. Quite cheap to be honest.

  4. It means tickets don’t exist, they are just a figment of someone’s imagination. It’s because the train is hacked by the NoTicketers conspiracy theory group.

  5. It’s been ages since that symbol has been relevant at all. I’m honestly surprised they still haven’t gotten rid of it.

  6. Similar symbols were used in the late 90s to early 2000s to indicate that ticket sales were not available in that compartment of the commuter train. They sold tickets in certain parts of the train back then.

I agree that those graphics must be confusing to anyone who hasn’t used Helsinki commuter trains back in the day and don’t know the context.
Someone might assume that tickets are not needed at all.

  7. No need for ticket today. You can travel for free.
