Is monowheel legal in Germany? I saw two people riding it on the Street – meant for bicycle. I am getting contradicting opinion on the internet if it’s allowed or not. Also do we have a separate insurance for riding monowheel/e bikes ?

not allowed
Sadly its not allowed.
Like a German work colleague told me once, “in Germany, if something new is cool, is more likely forbidden”
Not allowed. And the police/ordnungsamt are very well informed. They will stop you and fine you.
And the fine will be the same as driving a car uninsured. And more if you don’t have a driving license.
(I use to drive them, got stopped by the police last in 2019 I think, sold the bigger one. Not sure what to do with my smaller one. There’s nowhere interesting to drive them anymore :()
Electric skateboards are illegal in Germany bro. They will be taken, destroyed, and you will be given a big fine.
Hell even a normal skateboard has the risk of police stopping you. People call the cops about it, since they think it’s “unsafe” on public sidewalks and the board could roll away or you could injure yourself or others.
It’s super lame, make it feel like you can have no fun in Germany. You can only safely skateboard inside the perimeters of a skatepark as that is a “designated action sports zone.”
Straight to jail.
We’re in Germany here. It’s fun -> not allowed 🫠
Of course not.
In Germany everything is forbidden except what is allowed.
Vehicles are required to meet standards like having two functional brakes which is already met by this monocycle
It’s not allowed. I own one and I occasionally ride it, but mostly on forest paths and away from public streets. It’s not possible to get insurance for it, so if you cause an accident, you’re on the hook.
It’s super fun to ride though.
ilegal due to safty concerns. no insurance will pay for you if you crash with them. thier also count as motorcycle so of you dont have a linces if will also charge as dribing with out linces
<6km/h is a toy allowed
>6km/h forbidden is car or so.
I once saw someone ride this kind of thing through the forest on a paved pathway. It was so strange. My girlfriend and I still reminisce it occasionally. Hey, remember the dude on the singular tyre?
Looks like fun so most likely illegal
No, for one it doesnt have handlebars, thats alsp why e scateboards are forbidden
Im sure there are plenty of other reasons it isnt allowed, but thats the one i know
You can probably ride it legally on your private grounds.
Similar to E-Scooters this would on be legal if it
1. complies with the STZO
2. You have insurance for it
3. You have an insurance license plate on the back
So no, this would not be legal
Nein, leider niemals.
Question: What’s the point of this product? How is this better than a bike, e-bike, scooter?
Electric skateboards are legal if insured but you’ll find nobody to insure them. I suppose these things will face a similar situation.
