Heritage Petroleum Company Limited (Heritage) is advising the public of the existence of a fraudulent Facebook page “Heritage Petroleum Trinidad and Tobago” claiming to sell company shares.
A statement from the company on Saturday noted that “Heritage is a wholly state-owned enterprise with no shares being offered for sale.”
It said that this is the second fake Heritage Petroleum Facebook page over the last week purporting to be selling company shares.
“On February 5, the fraudulent page was reported to Facebook and was removed within 24 hours of lodging the complaint. This page was also reported,” the company added.
Heritage also noted that the fake profiles were also reported to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Cybercrime Unit.
Heritage has further advised that the public refrain from visiting or sharing any fake profiles and only interact with the company’s legitimate page.
