>In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on State of the Union, Tom Homan said that whole teams of ICE officers are having to raid neighborhoods to carry out the administration’s deportation plans.
>“It is hard because rather than one man arresting one bad guy in a jail, we’ve got to send a whole team to the field to find someone that doesn’t want to be found,” he said in an interview Sunday.
>“It’s hard work, but we’re not giving up,” he added. “We’re coming.”
>Homan said it was especially difficult to locate targets in sanctuary cities such as New York, which has a policy of not cooperating with federal immigration enforcement efforts. In what some critics have called a quid pro quo, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has allowed ICE to operate at Rikers Island prison in exchange for the Justice Department dropping corruption charges against the mayor.

>“You said roughly 14,000 migrants have been arrested in the first month of this administration, and that’s well below the 1,500 daily arrests that the president says he wants to see,” the CNN host pointed out. “What’s the struggle?”

>The administration has stopped publishing daily arrest numbers, saying it would release statistics monthly to conserve resources. Immigration arrests, however, have dramatically decreased since November, according to Axios.
>Homan went on to explain that he would employ larger teams to boost the number of arrests.
>“I’m not happy with the numbers because we got a lot of criminals to find,” he said. “So what we’re talking about right now is increasing the number of teams, increasing the targeting, the division of ICE that creates the targets, finding who these people are, what the criminal history is, and we’re most likely to find him.
>“The numbers are a lot higher than the Biden administration, but we’ve got to do more,” he later said. “We’re making the operational changes now that I requested.”
>Homan also said he would only send agents to raid high schools in specific cases.
>“The leftists have tried to scare the American people,” he said. “We’re not raiding schools, we’re not rating churches, we’re not rating college campuses.”
>“But if we have a … significant public safety threat or national security—let’s say, for instance, an MS-13 member who’s a senior in the high school who’s wanted for drug distribution or strong-armed robberies—we will go to that school and arrest that MS 13 member.”

The problem they are having is with the exception of California, all of our nation’s produce, meat, poultry and pork processing plants are located in red states. If they target these states, they will kill the rural areas. LOL

I was predicting they would feign difficulty. They know with absolute certainty what it would cost the US economy to deport even half of immigrants. I think it is technically feasible to find half within a year or two, with a balance of certain intelligence resources, punishment for employers, rewards for rats and stool pigeons etc etc…but they won’t do it or will drag their feet extremely slowly. We see now how quickly they can move to do other, even if reckless, things. It’s all posturing to keep immigrants as 3rd class humans both for employers to abuse and to be an ever present boogeyman Republicans can point at to keep us distracted and divided.
There is no good reason for there not to be a Schengen Zone for the Americas, for trade and travel. We only have 4 languages, as opposed to the dozens of languages in Europe. Excepting Haiti, the difference between the poorest and richest nations is smaller (tho there is big gulf between the #1 and the rest. Even Canada is more in the middle of this gulf. This isn’t accidental. Canada is now feeling the squeeze for getting too close to the sun). The US believes in “exceptionalism”…stand in term for a sense of racial superiority.
The peoples south of the border, their ancestors lived in North America for millenia while migrating south. They have the right of return (the same ideology and standard they like to proffer on Israelis).

They know where to look, they’re just choosing to ignore it. It was their goal to get rid of higher percentages in blue states, or sanctuary cities. They’re ignoring the fields and manufacturers that still need the labor.
Go after the corporate boards that hire them. It would be more effective. Put the CEO of Perdue in jail or deport him to Guantanamo. And other CEOs would put measures in place. But that’s only if you’re serious and don’t want to go after marginalized groups to please your racist base.
If their actual goal were to get rid of unauthorized immigrants, they would make E-Verify mandatory for every employer in the United States.
That would drastically reduce job opportunities — it would discourage future illegal immigration and some would leave the U.S. voluntarily. It doesn’t require ICE manpower or new government expenses.
The fact that they are not mandating E-Verify proves that they just want to make a SHOW of strict enforcement. They want to put fear into the community of unauthorized immigrants. They want to brag about being tough on illegal immigrants. (But they also want businesses to be able to benefit from cheap immigrant labor).

It’s not fucking hard at all. Got to any food processing plant or significant farm or any fucking Home Depot or Lowes parking lot and you’ll find plenty. What’s fucking hard to find is undocumented people who are criminals because there just aren’t that many. Fucking asshole.

The United States population is almost 334,000,000 with an estimated 11,000,00 undocumented immigrants most of whom are working- at least in my state- they are a fraction of the people in this country- just set up a reasonable work program- ok wait that’s been proposed from Bush 2 until present and voted down by Republicans along with beefed up border security, and increased staffing to process claims. Instead they fly deportees down to Columbia in military planes at almost a million a trip instead of the previous normal charter or commercial flights- the stupid never stops

Shockingly, undocumented immigrants try not to do shit that will attract the attention of law enforcement. Many of them went through hell to get here so that they can provide for family members in their home countries. The last thing they want is to be deported. This is basic common sense.
Happened last year, too, when flocks of concerned magats went to various points on the boarder, intent on stopping the migrant caravan that was flooding over in droves daily, only to find… there wasn’t one. And they never did end up finding any.
Weird I thought they were everywhere in gangs roving around raping and murdering everyone. That seems like they’d be out and about and easy to find?
Oh you mean it’s your neighbor who works at the plant with you, who shoveled your driveway after your wife had her baby and whose daughter plays with yours all the time? That’s reality. Immigrants are just like the rest of Americans. Most are good and pleasant people. A few are terrible criminals
