I mean, realistically, it has not been good for quite a LOT of people for a considerable portion of it. The next phase should also be good for Women and people who are not Christian, white, and straight.

I really don’t consider this country to have been a democracy while slavery existed, before women could vote, or during Jim Crow.
And there was so much potentially, shame Americans are fucking idiots

But at least there was always the idea of aspiring to certain ideals even at the worst moments.
Now it is just completely mask off with no pretense to aspiring to anything.
Rome didn’t fall overnight. We’ll have a few more presidents but the damage done is a deep cut and things will not go back to normal for a while.
It’s devastating to watch what was once touted as one of the most robust democracies on earth crumble in less than a month: Destroying alliances, destabilising the world, and treating its own citizens with such cruelty. And, it’s just going to get worse.
