How do people come to the conclusion that the US thinks Europe is their enemy? This is such an incredibly dangerous way of thinking.

No he didn’t. He said the biggest threat to European freedom comes not from china or Russia, but from within. Followed by citing examples where freedom of speech was suppressed (migration topics amongst others).
Watch the full thing and make up your own mind. Now is the time for western countries, including the US, to re-evaluate their relations with one another, yet stick together more than ever.
The F35 isn’t just an American plane, it’s build in cooperation with other countries many of which European. The manufacturing of components is purposefully spread across these nations.
An F-35 is 80 million ish per airframe not a 160 million OP

First rate aircraft bought from the US vs 2nd rate aircraft bought from Europe. Neither are strategic independence as one leaves you dependant on the US for sustainment, the other leaves you with less capability than potential foes.
Until FCAS or GCAP spit out a generation leading aircraft, we’re not independent in any meaningful sense.

Not sure about air defences but when it comes to land, please buy Italian.. well that and random airdropped napolitans on their Fiat Pandas….
Poland bought a lot of stuff from USA. As a security guarantee, yeah we are patted by arms but as we see we should not rely so much on them.

Norway is about to buy American Frigates because the American company has a production deal with a Norwegian Ship Yard.
