24. I believe that Tory party is the longest lived successful political party in the world. It’s been around for almost 200 years.

    This doesn’t mean that it’s demise would be some great disaster, far from it. In fact it just goes to show that political parties rise and fall all the time.

    The Whig party doesn’t exist anymore (they became the Liberals in the 1850’s) and in turn the Liberals are also gone (they merged with the SDP in the 80’s to become the Lib Dems).

    If the Tories go then a new center right party will take it’s place. Nature abhors a vacuum.
