A delegation from the Confederation of Producers – Professionals – Industrial Goods of Farmers’ Markets of Greece had a working meeting with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms. Elena Rapti, with the aim of exploring possibilities for cooperation for promoting farmers’ markets as a tourist destination and promoting local products to visitors to the country.
The Confederation was represented by the President Mr. Angelos Deretzis and the Special Advisor Mr. Christos Koxenoglou, who presented proposals for the interconnection of farmers’ markets with the tourist map of Greece.
At the meeting, the Deputy Minister was informed about the role of farmers’ markets in promoting the Greek land and authentic food, as well as the possibility of creating thematic actions that will enhance the tourist experience, highlighting tradition, producers and local products.

The inclusion of farmers’ markets in tourist routes through organized visits.
The possibility of local product tasting programs within farmers’ markets.
The promotion of collaborations with hotels and tourist agencies.
The strengthening of the extroversion of farmers’ markets through promotional actions.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism expressed her interest in the proposals and committed to examining ways of cooperation, recognizing the importance of farmers’ markets in promoting Greek food culture.
The Confederation will continue contacts with the Ministry of Tourism, with the aim of implementing joint actions that will enhance the role of farmers’ markets and contribute to the development of agrotourism and the local economy.
