Suspect in fatal stabbing of Quham Babatunde on South Anne Street was on bail for violent incident involving knife

A second male, also aged in his 20s, was detained following a search operation in [Balbriggan.Independent.ie](http://Balbriggan.Independent.ie) has learned that the suspect being held in the North is currently facing charges before the courts for violent disorder and producing a knife during a dispute.The alleged incident occurred in the city last year, and the man is currently on bail with his case due before the circuit court in the coming weeks.Investigators believe this man was trying to flee to Liverpool when he was intercepted by members of the PSNI at the port in Belfast and detained.

    It emerged over the weekend how Mr Babatunde had earlier attended a gig by the rapper Kojo Funds in the nightclub Twenty-Two where a row broke out between two groups.This spilled out onto South Anne Street resulting in a number of people being assaulted and stabbed.Mr Babatunde was not involved in the violence and was a bystander when he was stabbed several times with the attack captured on video by an eye-witness.It’s understood that a short time later as the victim lay critically injured on the ground, he was also kicked several times by a group of males.

    Update Paul Healy on X (Crime Correspondent, Irish Daily Star, Irish Mirror) : Both arrested suspects were on bail at the time. One for alleged knife possession and the other on drugs and improvised firearms offences.
