COVID vaccination rate by the German state. I understand that in reality, the rate might be 5% higher,as per RKI surveys, but still, what explains the huge regional variation in vaccination rates?

  1. the 5%difference applies only to adults(vaccination stats showed 80% of adults vaccinated, while **RKI surveys showed 85% vaccination rate among adults)**

so for the overall population the vaccination rate might be 3-4% higher;but take in mind that RKI surveys, like all surveys, have **margins of error**

the 85% vaccination rate could be anything from **83 to 87%**(90% confidence interval)

**again, thanks German digitalization,we don’t even know what level of population immunity we have**

only solution would be a population scale antibody/T cells survey(even if antibodies start to disappear 6 months after infection and vaccination ,T cells stay)

  2. To put it in a neutral way: People in the states of the former GDR tend to trust the government less (maybe for obvious reasons).

A bit similar for rural vs. urban areas

This might explain good rates in (Western) city states and bad rates in Eastern and more rural areas.

  3. I don’t like That all of the comments above take the unvaccinated people for stupid! I don’t think it has to do with the education Level.. You could even say that people with a higher education tend do not vaccinate them selfs in comparison to not that well educated people.. and I am also from Bavaria and I have to say that there is a way older population in the country side then in the city’s
