  1. Submission Statement: The findings of Latvian intelligence, from a frontline state, is something we have all known for a long time, hence why Western governments give weapons to Ukraine, due to the fear that Putin will send his troops to occupy NATO countries.

When Trump and the European far right say “We just want peace and for people to stop dying”, what they don’t realize is that the alternative may be worse. Yes, the sacrifices in lives on both sides are immense, but we are forced to make such a brutal calculation to allow such sacrifice lest Russia be allowed to regroup and rearm to attack not only Ukraine, but NATO countries.

  2. So, lets get this straight.

    1. EU as whole and Latvia in particular dont want to make a decisive actions to change the course of war.
    2. They also dont want it to end because they feel safer then someone else is dying for them.

    Hm-hmmm.

  3. I’m curious why so many people believe Russia won’t stop at Ukraine. Genuinely looking for education on that idea.

From my understanding of the conflict, as well as previous Russian aggression in Ukraine in 2014, the spread of NATO on Russia’s western border was a hard red line.

Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO would allow western forces to control most of the Black Sea as well as a large swath of the Russian border particularly close to Moscow.

A likely peace deal seems to be U.S. guarantees that Ukraine never aligns with NATO in exchange for reciprocal Russian guarantees on Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. I don’t mention Europe here since it seems like the U.S. is trying to cowboy this deal without them.

If this is even remotely the case, the biggest question lies around what happens to Ukrainian territory. Does Russia keep annexed and occupied territory from 2014 and 2022-2025? Do they concede back Ukrainian sovereignty in all or some of those areas?

I think the Ukrainian region as well as the Black Sea are probably top of mind for Moscow. I personally don’t see why Putin would take a peace deal in Ukraine – even one that may favor his efforts in the region – and still be willing to, and also allowed to, push NATO back even further.

    Curious everyone’s thoughts here.

  4. 1. Ukraine wants to join NATO because that would stop Russian aggression.

    2. If Ukraine falls, NATO will not be able to stop Russian aggression.

    Right?
