It is amazing that people this stupid can make it to positions of authority over other people.

  2. Knew a “boss” who put redundancy notifications into Christmas cards.

  3. I’m surprised this wasn’t asked about on r/thecivilservice that place is hell. “my boss sent me a message with jazz hands and I was sick. Can I sue?”

  4. I never knew that emoji was supposed to be jazz hands

  5. This is very much a sign of decline in general knowledge of workplace rights in the workplace. That the manager went through his entire career without ever having registered that you cannot fire people for getting pregnant is astonishing.

While legal protections have increased, knowledge of legal protections has dramatically declined (probably due to attacks in trade unions). Normally that manifests as companies being able to get away with a lot more, but thankfully in this case the employee knew well enough that it was wrong.
