Is this real?

  1. Could be. Atv for flatlands. The Yorkshire dales, Scottish highlands etc could find use for it. If I was in need of a medical professional and this got them to me quicker then I’m all for its legitimacy.
Perhaps they couldn’t get you out of there but they can administer first aid and allow other rescuers to pinpoint your location quicker.

  2. Probably a marketing shot for the Twizy, what with the plate on the back and generic crest.

  3. Yeah, could be. If you’re in the middle of fuck all nowhere but you’re easy enough to find they don’t need to look for a helicopter I can see a couple of these going out.

  4. Bugger all range on them mind you. If used anywhere outside of towns they would get to the location but then need plugging in to charge them before they could leave again.

  5. You will be surprised, I have seen the ambulance service around here use the smallest electric BMW for a while, and the ones in cities use bicycles, so it’s possible

  6. They say ‘laughter is the best medicine’. Well, if that’s true then this thing would heal gunshot wounds because I’d piss myself laughing if I saw it arrive while I’m bleeding out.

  7. My son (4) has a Hot Wheels Renault Tweezy – he calls it the “silly car”.

  8. NHS cutbacks – they can’t afford proper sized ambulance vehicles anymore

  9. There was a Smart fourtwo done out as a response car C/W Blues n Twos etc on the bay recently.

I was going to get it for the Daughter but got a very firm NO from her, cant think why…..

But it would have been perfect for her to rock up at her first station in! First impressions and all lol.

  10. Over the years ambulance services have deployed a range of non-traditional “ambulances”. Bicycles, motorbikes, small cars, high speed cars, small hand barrow and even a jet pack. None of them can realistically carry a patient to a hospital or other treatment centre. But one thing that we’ve learned from hard lessons and no shortage of dumb luck is that a well trained person with a comprehensive kit who can be with a patient quicker than a traditional ambulance and very significantly improve the odds of survival and many other health outcomes.

Sure, a Twizy would be no use in places like open countryside or even a sprawling residential area. But in dense urban centres prone to congestion and periods high and prolonged occupation, a vehicle capable of 30mph, getting through small gaps, occasionally making use of the pavement or cutting down alleyways too narrow for a normal car is going to offer an advantage.

  11. The number plate is saying it’s fake, but that thing is absolutely adorable for rural areas and narrow one lane roads

  12. Do you drag the person to hospital or mount them across the car like a dead deer?

  13. Central London has cycle paramedics.

Apparently these were designed for getting first responders to places larger vehicles may take longer to get to.

  14. One of those is going to get through city centre traffic a hell of a lot quicker than a full sized ambulance and get life saving equipment to the scene of a medical emergency so that first aid can be administered while the full ambulance is en-route.

  15. Paramedics on quad bikes? Way faster than a chopper in inner cities.

  16. Ahahaha, yes it is. I only know cause I’ve driven one. They’re mainly used for events and to draw in crowds. They only have space for 1 person, which will usually be a paramedic or tech. The bag contains all the life saving equipment you need until an Ambulance arrives to take over.

  17. Well given bicycle ambulances aren’t at all rare in certain parts of the country such as Manchester I could totally believe this being a rapid first aid response vehicle. Why send out a massive van that will probably get stuck in traffic all to administer some first aid or defib then drive back to base? Also smaller more maneuverable vehicles (ofcrs the bicycle being the most extreme) can use pedestrian areas or cycle lanes or narrow alleys and the such. Potentially getting physically closer to the person in need than a van could.

  18. It’s just a private ambulance service that does event first aid. They use these for traversing festival sites.

  19. Imagine how comfortable driving one of them with the heating on and windows up while it’s pouring down with rain would be. Peak comfort.

  20. I’m guessing it’s for towns and cities with poor access on streets give most meat wagons are wider than you car

  21. Everyone saying it’s an ATV it’s a Renault Twizy a city car take this thing off road and it’ll need a tow it’s real there are a few in Birmingham and the surrounding area

  22. It’s got a little fold-out stretcher tucked away. You strap the patient to it, hook it to the back of the baby ambulance, and pull them along the road to the hospital

  23. Yes, my neighbour had one that he had re-sprayed. He is quite large though and looked an absolute moron in it 😂

  24. Where can I buy one from? I’m tired of going into the bushes on narrow country roads

  25. Even if I was dying, I think I would chuckle at this turning up.

  26. The driver has to go NEEEE NAWWWW NEEE NAWWW themselves as there is no space for the siren.

  27. This is the Sooty Ambulance.

“Twizy, Izzy wizzy, let’s get busy!”

  28. Looks great for nipping a first responder through traffic in a dense city setting.

  29. That thing turns up at my accident scene imma just turn around and bleed out.
