What are the disadvantages? The point of joining NATO if you’re neighbouring Russia is literally preventing your country from being annihilated so I’m curious about the disadvantages, Russia being extremely hostile and dishonest, the possibility of being friends just by being neutral leads to a dead end already.
Theirs no disadvantage.
Russia are dangerous, only united can they be resisted and kept to their borders.
One alone will struggle. Combined the bear can be beaten.
I don’t see anything good coming from joining. Finland doesn’t have to fear anything, unless it jumps on the bandwagon to get involved in matters it has no business in. Like NATO has done on several occasions.
The only reason it was not disbanded yet since accomplishing its founding purpose is that one of its primarily founding members (USA) uses it as a tool for keeping military and thus political influence over the smaller thus weaker members in Europe. Don’t even try denying this. Whenever an American president “asks” something from a European “ally” /the EU, most members fall all pver each other to please the “request”.
