Oman LNG and Mercuria executives at the LNG supply contract

Oman LNG has signed a long-term Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply agreement with Mercuria, a Swiss-based trading company.

Under the 10-year deal, the state-owned company will supply 800,000 metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) starting April 2025, state-run Oman News Agency reported.

Hamed Mohammed Al Nu’amani, CEO of Oman LNG, said the agreement expands its portfolio of partners and market access, supporting global energy security and sustainability.

In July Oman said it was building a new LNG facility, with an estimated production capacity of 3.8 mtpa, to expand its natural gas exploration and production.

Oman LNG signed an agreement with Turkey’s Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corporation to supply 1 million mtpa of LNG for 10 years last May.

The company had agreed in November 2023 to deliver 1 million metric tonnes per annum of LNG to British oil and gas major BP.
