  1. **From Ali Velshi, host of MSNBC’s “Velshi:”**

However, like last time, these new tariffs will mainly affect U.S. allies, especially our neighbors to the north and south. Almost 40% of our total imported steel comes from Canada and Mexico. The overwhelming majority of America’s aluminum imports come from Canada as well.

There are costs to starting a trade war with one of your oldest friends, strongest allies and greatest trading partners. The American people will soon feel those consequences.

  2. His tariff on Aluminum and Steel, especially against Canada doesn’t make any sense.

Quebec can produce aluminum cheaper than USA because of abundande hydro electricity.

He is going to make US autos made in North America even less competitive.

  3. Canada doesn’t even have free trade between it’s provinces, but apparently putting tariffs on Canadian goods means that the US is the most evil entity know to man.

  4. Given how close an ally both the US and Canada are. And how much they’ve been through this past century, it’s preposterous no one’s discussing just how bad of a treatment Canada is getting in its relationship with the US.

  5. Trump can’t control Canada.

Everyone I know has shifted everything away from US brands.  No McDonald’s, Coca Cola, Subway, or American produce or meats.

We are nothing if not spiteful and this greasy pedophilic rapist the Americans have elevated to a throne can pound sand.

His rhetoric is crass and insulting and wildly disrespectful.

Not strong.  He is a weak minded fool.

  6. America is more powerful, economically.

Canada is more willing to suffer economically for its survival.

If each imposes deep pain on the other, Canada will win. Americans will never accept the kind of damage Canada can impose on it… not if the motivation is, “to harm Canadians.”

  7. Trump wants to hurt America that is the point he also wants to make those opposed to him pay

  8. No shit. I buy a lot of steel and aluminum and EVERY TIME this guy is president our costs jump. It’s making fabrication in the US ridiculously expensive, to the point that we now have customers shipping cars to South America for metal work, then back here to finish assembly.
