I’ve seen it happen to people I know, and it’s frustrating because we’re all kind of sold this idea that being independent and rejecting things like unions, government help, or social programs is what freedom looks like. But what actually happens is, when we give up that collective power, the vacuum just gets filled by the ultra-rich or power-hungry politicians. They’re not giving us more freedom—they’re taking it for themselves.

    At the same time, corporations start calling all the shots—wages stay crap, working conditions get worse, and even the info we see online gets filtered to benefit them. And public stuff we all rely on, like healthcare, infrastructure, or decent schools? That stuff falls apart, and regular people like us are the ones left holding the bag. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but realizing it is huge. That’s how we start pushing for change that actually works for us, not just the billionaires.
