Senior Republicans seeking to tear up IRA enjoy $130bn investment boom. The districts they represent have enjoyed an investment boom thanks to Biden’s climate policy. The extent of the rollback could test whether they put the interests of their voters ahead of their loyalty to the president.

Good god, I know I’m a bit of a doomer, but all these articles about Trump’s actions “testing” loyalty are moronic. Trump could rip off a baby’s head and stump fuck the remains and his followers would love it…
It would require the electorate to know what is happening, and not default to blaming the gays/Democrats like they always do.
They don’t care about anything but power. No republican cares about his district. Only hanging on to power.
Dems aren’t much better at this point. They have proven they are weak and won’t stand up to trump or protect the American ppl. They also want power and control. And are willing to serve trump to stay in power
These people can’t even stand up to AIPAC a foreign nations lobby, they are utterly spineless feckless cowards.
MAGA ideology, Trumpism or whatever you call it seems to be almost a mental illness that has robbed Republicans of their patriotism, spines and integrity. No one with their eyes open is falling for their simple-minded rationalizations and lies for why they are supporting his anti-American policies. We can only hope that a few will wake up at this point. Or the voters will by next fall. But it may be too late by then.
MAGA is so stupid they can do both, pull the rug out from under them and then just blame Democrats. Seems to be working so far.
To be fair, an individual’s political opinions don’t nave to be solely defined by self-interest. There are plenty of millionaires that ask for higher tax rates. Sometimes people will set their own interests aside to ask for what is better for their nation. It’s not necessarily a sign of stupidity.
But the IRA was not just bribery; it actually was good policy to move the US into the future.
I live in a red area, and have had solar panels for 4 years. I get money back every year as a credit from my power company. Neighbors have been interested, and I gladly talk to them about the panels and how we save money, and I also say how I love how clean and silently the panels generate electricity. Nobody really pushes back, and I will say I feared slightly what the neighbors would say before I had them installed, but definitely no more. They’re a great conservation starter.
LOL imagine thinking the same group of people who STILL have rejected Obamacare funding for their constituents, representing some of the poorest and least healthy people in America, because they hated Obama are not going to shoot their voters in the face again.
These people do not give a shit about their voters. They do not operate under normal human incentive structures. Their are ruled entirely by their donors and propaganda apparatus; neither of which will accept clean energy or disloyalty to Trump. Of course they’re going to tear up the IRA.
Of course they are going to reject their constituents for Trump. They don’t represent their constituents or a democracy. They believe in a dictator and fascism. Rip their jobs from their cold, old hands.
Will loyalty to the president compensate for the financial of the Republican Party?
What loyalty to their voters? That went away a long time ago.
At least in Republican areas/states, the voters chose this path for themselves. Representing the voter and fulfilling the will of the people entails cutting these green energy initiatives and infrastructure projects. Trump and Republicans in general were VERY clear on where they stood on all this stuff early on in the campaign so there is no excuse for someone to have voted Republican and then start whining about shit like this now
