The house was built in 1931 and I’ve managed to get below the old vinyl flooring to find mdf type wood and then what appears to be plank. Is this the original floor?
I had the same in my apartment from 1936. Use a breathing mask! Those fibers are really bad for your lungs! It is linoleum flooring and considered dangerous waste, meaning you can dispose of it for free at any landfill.
Below it I just found rough wooden planks, no proper flooring.
Most likely pine floors(furu) – they look really nice once they are sanded and painted 🙂
Reminds me of when I changed a window in my 1963 built house and the gaps had been filled with horse hair.

Does anyone know what I’m looking at?
