How can I take a portion of that $5K and ensure the industrial plant down the road isn’t pumping excess toxic chemicals into the air? Can I use my $5K to ensure our veterans have a mental healthcare system to address their unique concerns? Maybe I can use some of that $ to help monitor the spread, treatment & potential containment of avian flu or possibly use $ keep our public lands safe and accessible to us all? I’d like to think that our tax dollars go to projects & initiatives that we can’t or won’t fund on our own. Yes, oversight is good but coming in armed with a hatchet and little understanding of what the programs intend to do or what drastic cuts mean isn’t effective oversight.
Even if he gives us $5k, isn’t not meaningful in the face of what he’s doing. That $5k will dry up in inflation before the year is out.
