1. Their [graph of China’s EV transition which shows battery electric and plug-in hybrid (“new energy vehicles”) now exceed 40% of vehicle sales from less than 10% just 4 years ago](https://www.carbonbrief.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/china-new-sales.png) should worry the oil industry.

   Lots to chew over but perhaps one of the more fascinating data points is that 50GW of storage additions (mostly grid batteries) was a 70% increase in dollar terms yoy, and was at par with the new fossil capacity additions which have been getting a lot more attention.
