  1. Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, will present Donald Trump with a plan to send 30.000 European troops to Ukraine to maintain a ceasefire.

    Source: The Telegraph, citing sources

Details: Starmer is expected to explain how European troops will police any ceasefire agreement struck by US President Donald Trump at their meeting next week in Washington, DC.

Western officials familiar with the discussions reported that Starmer will push Trump to maintain American fighter jets and missiles on standby in Eastern Europe in case Russia violates the conditions of any finalised peace agreement.

The Anglo-French strategy for a “reassurance force” was presented to the most influential European leaders during the emergency summit in Paris at the beginning of the week, when they were trying to respond to the start of Trump’s peace talks with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The strategy was created amidst the fear that Trump would wash his hands of Ukraine and any kind of ceasefire once any deal is concluded.

The article noted that Steamer will argue that it is in the US’s best interests to remain involved in preventing Russia from invading for the third time after all the fighting ceases.

  2. Europe can easily contain Russia.

The challenge is, can a European force contain a Russia backed and funded by the USA. And it’s not difficult to imagine a scenario where the USA not only supports Russia, but also simultaneously applies tariffs and sanctions on Europe.

Russia is in control of the worlds largest economy and military, and the American people voted it there.

  3. American here. Please do this because it’ll be the only way to stop Trump from making his boss’s dream come true.

  4. This is actually a really decent plan.

The force seems small but with the backup he’s suggesting, it could prove effective and affordable long term. It would certainly give the Russians pause to break any ceasefire.

The hardest part will be convincing the US and other NATO partners to back it.

    Good luck Keir!

  5. you can’t even trust the yanks to actually get involved even if russia does cross the tripwire, trump is fucking mates with the enemy! he’ll stay out of it

  6. >the United Kingdom, will present Donald Trump with a plan to send 30.000 European troops to Ukraine **to maintain a ceasefire.**

One that’s supposedly going to be made without input from Ukraine? Yeah ok.

How about you send them now for to sure up logistics and help Ukraine win.

  7. Why do they need to present this plan to the US, just talk to Zelenskyy and do a deal. This has nothing to do with the US.

  8. I like the plan specifically because Putin will hate it.

  9. God bless. People are so afraid to escalate russia’s actions. But whole russia is built on dictatorship and prison mentality. There is no nice and diplomatic way to stop them because they only know these things as a concept and consider it weakness. If you let them push boundaries they’ll test just how far they can go.

How did negotiations and gentle approach worked with your high school bully?

The only way to stop them is to show that their assed will be handed to them if they proceed. Europe with all the intel and history books cannot seem to figure this out. That’s something that the Baltics have been screaming from the rooftop while rest of Europe covers their ears.

Having a bigger friend with a baseball bat would completely eliminate the issue. And the EU has to become that friend for this whole thing to unfuck itself.

  10. Send 30k to Russia and this war is over within 2 weeks.

  11. Wouldn’t mind. Send troops now. Anyway we have to all protect democracy from US and Russia

  12. > Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, will present Donald Trump with a plan to send 30.000 European troops to Ukraine to maintain a ceasefire.

Nothing new from the last 10 times this was posted.

  13. It’s a nice plan. If Russia attacks any place that has European troops, it basically declares war. Similar to UN troops, Russia can’t target them.

  14. Finally some tangible plans of action! This is the way. Screw the orange and screw putin, both cancers. Europe needs to stand united and act decisively

  15. Since expansionism seems to be the only focus of Putin and Trump, why not combine this plan of sending troops with some trolling ? Purchase the land in Ukraine that borders Belarus in exchange of military supplies and equipment. Once this land belongs to France or UK, they can station troops and install a no-fly zone. Moreover, Ukraine can relocate its troops to fight Russia. I don’t see how they could complain since it’s exactly what they are doing or want to do.

  16. If European troops are sent to Ukraine it should be to kick the Russians back into their own country.

Peacekeeping is a second idea but will be incredibly difficult- what will the mandate be
? What will the rules of engagement be? – any response would need to be immediate

I hope this isn’t some half baked plan…

  17. How about we send 30.000 of our politicians? Im sure it will be a better outcome for everyone

  18. Yes please. Put them on anti-aircraft duty. Finally institute a no-fly zone with European jets. Take up all the defensive duties and free the Ukrainians to fight at the front line. Fuck yeah. We should have done this 3 years ago.

  19. Canada should send some of our troops as well. Even a small contingent would send a big message. A real statement about our support for Ukraine and our ties to the UK and EU.

  20. Let’s send 50.000 prime minister, with units from all willing EU nations and ask for assistance from Canada and Australia also let’s get some help from South Korea and Japan, let’s do this together 👍🏻💪🏻

  21. Putin wanted lebensraum but got finland and sweden into NATO, massively increased eu military spending over the next years, and now talk of ground troops at their border. Gg no re?

  22. That is a huge chunk of the UK’s army. Is it ready to do such a thing?

  23. Even if the troops stay in the western part of Ukraine and never enter combat, that would be helpful. There would be no “peace talks” behind our backs because what are you going to negotiate without Europe? You can’t promice their troops or nato is out of the question because the troops are already there.

  24. Cool. Remember that they are not even prepared to the war methods of the russia and possibly to a drone war.

  25. This only makes sense if its done immiditely, without waiting for the ceasefire. Place them West, ensure no-fly zone there. Free up the Ukrainian forces defending Kyiv and near Odessa, allow them to move East.

30k doesn’t work as a peacekeeping force on 1000 km front, it can merly act as a tripwire force, which forces European countries to get involved in escalation. We cannot let Russia to rebuild during ceasefire, we just cannot. Do it now

  26. Honestly don’t get the hate Kier gets. I agree with him more than any politician in recent years in the UK. Im convinced people only don’t like him because he doesn’t walk around like a reality tv star.

  27. Its not enough in my opinion. Peace with Russia will never hold and retaking all Ukraine’s land is still in scope if the support comes. Send the troops as border guards to Belarus and free up the 120k odd soldiers Ukraine’s needs stationed there.

  28. We as Europeans need to step up and unite against Russia. Trump is giving Russia what it wants- that will only make Putin bolder. I may not fully agree with Starmer, nor do most Brits, but we do need a wartime leader of sorts for the kind of shit that Putin is pulling (and Trump).

So yeah, I think fuck Russia’s demands and send in a small European force to peacekeep Ukraine.
