    edit: Reagan had massive issues, but his issues were entirely about social structure (edit: and economic policy) within the country (eg. drug wars, AIDs, unfunding college education, trickle-down economics). International posture was decidedly *not* an issue insofar as it related to Europe, trade, and soft power (we can argue about Iran, etc).

  21. This is what you get when you vote because you identify with a party based on emotion instead of reading and fully understanding what they promote and looking at how a party profiles itself and its supporters.
    This coming from an EU perspective; I have personally voted for 5 different parties over the years due shift in interests an shifts in policies by parties. It is completely illogical from our pov to vote based on how your parents or neighbors vote. Do your damn research next time, if there’ll ever be one in the USA.

  22. I vehemently disagree with a lot of Reagan’s policies both domestically and foreign. But one thing I would never question is Reagan’s loyalty to this country. I miss the days when we could hold the same long term interests, but disagree philosophically about how to achieve it. But at the end of the day, it was in the country’s best interests.

    This is not Reagan’s party. What we see today definitely is somewhat of a byproduct of that administration’s trickle down economics, tax policy, and foreign policy, but he would still be sick at what it’s become.
