The only argument I heared for staying on X is that otherwise there is no alternative information to be found on that medium. This is similar to the strategy of having fruits and vegetables at the entry of the supermarket: it doesn’t stop people from purchasing chips and snacks… So I praise the initiative of de Standaard to abandon this cess pool.

I dont give a frak about x Or bluesky but its best that the standaard just keeps their account before some troll uses the standaard name on X to spread misinformation. I mean they dont have to use X anymore but its to prevent abuse.
They barely had engagement anymore and links are demoted in timelines. So their presence only led to negligible click through rates and must have lost them more money than they made. Pre-Elon Twitter wasn’t great at this to begin with either, but it has gotten worse.
Even setting aside moral implications, their presence on X no longer made any sense business wise.
In response to X being too right wing and a right echo chamber, left media leaves X to build their own echo chamber and leave an even bigger echo chamber…
So instead of right wing X’er debating or at least seeing other opinions they now just don’t. Because there not making a Bluesky account. I don’t see how that fixes any of the problems.
It’s a very good news for Democracy.
