  1. It’s surprising how many people don’t like Bill Gates yet have never heard of Larry Ellison and the crazy stuff he’s promoting. Funny thing is half the conspiracy theories about Bill are things that Larry is actually actively lobbying for in the Republican party. Not to say Bill isn’t perfect.

Bloomberg kind of deserves the hate he gets. Literally paid to win all the horse competitions in his area for his daughter when she was a kid (look it up). As for Zuck, Bezos, and Elon, no comment.

  2. Elon’s Net worth has ballooned to 400b, which represents about 1/1000 dollars worth of value in the entire planet

  3. ā€œI don’t know himā€ is like what? 1 in 20 people? How? Are you asking someone who has been in a coma for the past couple of years?

In my country there’s a (minimum) number of people who don’t know the president, every single year, no matter the president. Mother fucker how are you living I want to live like you.

  4. I love Steve Ballmer’s USA Facts work. Sweet… sweet… context.

  5. The lesson here is if you become a billionaire- be like Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Just try to be as anonymous as possible.

  6. Where’s “I have no strong opinion”? Is that bundled into “didn’t answer” or “never heard of them”? Doesn’t feel like it fits in the latter category. I’ve heard of Brin and Page but I have no idea how involved they are in what Google is doing these days.

  7. If you make it to the top 10 you should buy a sports team so people don’t know who you are….got it!

  8. Curious to see where Jensen Huang of NVIDIA would land. He made a lot of people a lot of money this past year even if you were just investing in the S&P.

  9. I am terrified of the fact that so many people do not know Larry Ellison due to the fact he has so much unbelievable influence over their lives. But I suppose he stays out of the limelight unlike Musk.

Also, who are the 13% of people that have just straight up never heard of Jeff Bezos..?

  10. Coincidently, the two most popular are about the only two who stayed clear of politics.

  11. Lol Zuck still less popular than Elon. That stupid ass chain.

  12. Sergey Brin is the literal dream

I wouldnt like to be famous if I am super wealthy

  13. I am less familiar with stats, is the sample size large enough for a good representation, or is this similar to when polling can be wildly off?

  14. More people need to have an unfavorable view of Larry Ellison.

  15. Would be interesting to compare with the robber barons a century ago like Andrew Carnegie.

  16. It’s not about shrinking the purple for those that don’t mind the spotlight, it’s about expanding the orange regardless of the expansion of purple. Musk is therefore the 3rd most successful on this list

Smaller grey = More fame, more money to be made out of your image

Bigger orange = More opportunities to make money out of your image

Bigger purple = Very few downsides. Opportunities remain.

  17. the fact that steve ballmer is worth more than bill gates is mindblowing and insane. not knocking ballmer he was a great ceo but gates fucking built that house in the first place.

  18. The Larrys, Brin and Ballmer really out here flying under the radar

  19. Bruv, not know Page and Brin is crazy.

I understand, though. Google (Alphabet, actually) dissociated so much from them.

  20. I’m surprised more people haven’t heard of Ballmer considering he owns a pro sports franchise

  21. Funny seeing Balmer so high on this list when he led MS during their worst years. Then Nadella who has made MS more successful than ever has 1/10th the wealth (which is still not bad).

If nothing else, Balmer was smart in the way he gave himself shares.

  22. Lol this proves that being non political doesn’t necessarily guarantee favorable ratings.

  23. Why do people dislike bill gates? Dude is responsible for building a product that makes our entire world work and is now responsible for saving millions of lives in Africa.

  24. I had to search for Larry Ellison, consistent with the grey label.

  25. Why do people hate Zuckerberg so much, compared to Musk and Bezos?

He seems the most ā€˜chill’ out of them.

  26. I think some of these people have low ratings in part because they may have been unknown to the people being polled. Does the average person really know about Larry Page?

  27. How have you have you never even heard of Elon Musk at this point?

  28. Those are rookie numbers, we can make them much more unfavorable!

  29. 29% view Michael Bloomberg in a positive manner?! The guy bought people so they would support a change in the law limiting Mayors to two terms and the kicker is that it would only be allowed for the current mayor, which was him.

  30. I was playing with ai trying to score billionaires on how “good” they were. Based on philanthropy & charitable giving, business practices & Impact, societal & civic engagement, negative impacts & harm avoidance .

Donald Sterling had the lowest score of the random billionaires I entered. With no positives and lots of negative traits.

  31. The fact the rich guys have a ranking system or a popularity context shows the bad side of US. These guy make or break policies at their will, no president or government is above them. They can do whatever they like. How is this ‘democracy’ ?

  32. Just googled Larry Ellison. How is that guy 80 and looking like that?

  33. What the hell. Warren Buffett is like the millionaire father in “Fargo” caring only for his own and if it pencils out. I call him a traitor to the founding fathers and to these as yet to be United States

  34. Bill gates should have a more favorable rating. He’s the only one who’s done anything significantly philanthropic with his wealth.

  35. I would love to meet the tiny fraction of people that never heard of Elon Musk. I mean, how did they manage to do that?

  36. This could also serve as a ‘do you know who this is?’ poll.

  37. Would be interesting to see some of the stats on other billionaires with a big public presence who maybe aren’t at the tippy-top of the Forbes list (Mark Cuban, for example)

  38. That’s 1.5 trillion or more being squandered/hoarded by ten people. To be a billionaire in a society or world with this much inequality is unethical. I know I’m being an idealist though.
