Hello, my uncle has benn im Spain and haven't visited for 31 years, my mom was the only one in contact with him even when he was sick , yesterday she got a message that said that he passed away unfortunately due a Respiratory failure, she is devastated and so we are even if she is the most , my aunts really didn't care to call my mom or hear from her but still I've told them tht never responded, the big problem here, is that to get him from spain to Morocco we need about 3000€ and we really cant afford it at all, Even to access his account, the bank that he used is bankrupt (irland bank) and the the legal department of the foundation cant access it too, and if we want to access it we need a lawyer which we can't also hire ,they say if we didn't do anything for a week the morgue is not gonna keep his body and they will do charity to bury him there which is making my mom devastated from hearing this if anyone knows any charity that could help or someone that could help please tell me we don't have enough time.

  1. I can’t help you, but i’m commenting to make your post gain traction. Good luck and sorry for your loss 💔🙏🕊️

  2. I hate to say this but are you sure this isn’t a scam?

  3. Mmmm have you tried calling any law offices? They’ll charge you but it may be less than 3000€.
You could also offer to pay them once they’ve been able to unlock the situation with your uncles account. (Not a legal expert, just brainstorming)

  4. Sure there are muslim/Morocan asociations in Spain to help you. Why not try to Contact them for help?

  5. With a heavy heart I say this, but if it is only your mum and maybe yourself who seem concerned, I think your best off flying to Spain, arranging a cremation of possible and bringing the remains back like that. All things death are expensive especially when uninsured. I am really really sorry, best of luck!

  6. Talk to your ambassy in Spain, they would help.
In Spain we are very sensitive to help other people!

  7. Sorry for your lost.

Was your uncle visiting or living here? If living, do you know if he had health insurance? Most residency permits require repatriation coverage in cases like this.

  8. Further proof that you need to make sure your older family members have their shiit in order. Power of attorney, accounts access, etc etc.

  9. Hi. I had a similar situation with my dad and uncle dying elsewhere. As others have already mentioned, cremation is the most economical method of ‘bringing your uncle back’.

Now I understand your beliefs are not ok with this, but repatriating a deceased body is extremely costly and it is unlikely anyone will be willing to help foot that bill, including your country/government. The only option I see is to have him buried in Spain via a charity or run a GoFundMe to try to collect the money to repatriate the body.

  10. For that price is cheaper to you to flight there and bury him there.

  11. Hey, i read the post and all your answers to other comments.

Given you limited economics means, and lack of documentation, i think it might be worth starting to asume that you won’t be able to fix this in a week.

The only way I see is that your mom goes to Spain and cremates your uncle there, taking his ashes with her back to Morocco. That will cost you just the plane tickets and maybe 1 day of hotel (200eur or so).

I know it’s not ideal but it might be the only way I see out lf this.
