OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) – A House committee has unanimously approved a bill aimed at protecting renters across the state.
House Bill 1945 focuses on landlords, owners, and operators of apartments or hotels.
It requires those owners to subject all employees to a background screening for employment.
It also requires that they maintain a log to track the distribution and returns of keys for all units in their buildings.
The bill’s author says renters and tenants should feel safe in their own homes.
