  1. “The government cut several social benefits last year, in an effort to balance public finances. The move was expected to push more people into social assistance. However, figures from the Social Insurance Institution Kela show that while this did not happen, the cost of funding social assistance still increased significantly.

Last year, nearly 250,000 households in Finland received social assistance. Kela paid out a total of 825 million euros, which is 95 million euros more than in 2023.

Kela researcher Tuija Korpela said several factors contributed to the rising cost of this last-resort benefit. These include cuts to social security and the inclusion of Ukrainian refugees in the social welfare system.”

  2. I hope so… sick of this one from day one when Purra’s grinning face started to appear everywhere… Can’t believe kokoomus would join forces with persut… idiotic set up all around.

  3. We should stop paying social benefits to people who are not citizens.

  4. Who would have thought that making cuts would lead to poorer economy and more people needing social security assistance even if you also cut that support?

  5. That’s because the current government thought to save money by cutting benefits, welfare and jobs rather than pushing the growth of economy. When people lose their job they go on full money saving mode. Less money circulate and company fails. Then more people are unemployed and it’s detrimental cycle. This is how you kill the future of a country. My current working contract will expire more or less in the same period of next government elections. I’ll evaluate what to do according to results because I don’t see a great future here with this government. And I’m not only talking about foreigners, I don’t see a nice future for anyone with current politics.
